Boys’ hockey beats Mounds View in high scoring affair

The boy’s hockey team has been known for their offensive explosive onslaught in recent years —- that was especially the case on December 3, 2013 as the Red Knights moved to 3-0 with a 11-5 shootout with Mounds View. After the first period, the score was tied at two— then the next period started and the Red Knights did not look back, outscoring Mounds View 6-2 in the second, and 3-1 in the third. Neither teams’ defense particularly stood out, as it was an offensive showcase through and through, with shot totals from Mounds View capping off at 21, and BSM doubling that at 42. Senior captain Spencer Naas tallied two assists to go along with a hat trick and junior forward Carter Roo scored his second and third goals of the season along with two assists. Mounds View’s defense was ultimately overwhelmed because scoring came from eight different Red Knights. “In the first two games we weren’t really tested defensively, Johnny was out of the lineup, we came out with a lack of focus and the opportunities we gave them they capitalized on,” said senior captain Spencer Nass.
