Over President’s Day weekend, BSM’s band, orchestra, and choir had the opportunity to fly to Orlando, Florida for a performance and workshop. The group spent the weekend enjoying the warmth at the beach and Universal Studios.

The group performed at the entrance of Universal Studios and spent time in a music studio working on sound design. “We didn’t play too much music, [but] we spent a lot of time together and it was like music had united us all even if that wasn’t the primary thing we were doing,” senior band student, Walker Niebergall said.

Although the purpose of the trip was for the performance and workshop, the group made the flight well worth it by having some time to themselves. “Two of the three full days we had were spent at Universal Studios riding rides and one of the other days we went to the beach and Ron Jon surf shop and the Blue Man Group,” Niebergall said.

BSM musicians and singers had a great time in Orlando, taking a break from the cold Minnesota weather. “I really enjoyed going to Cocoa Beach and shredding some gnar on the waves. Universal Studios was also very epic,” Niebergall said.

To wrap up the trip, the students and chaperones spent 14 hours in the airport waiting for their flight back to Minneapolis after a 12-hour departure delay in Orlando. “It was bad. I got back to my house at about 4:30 am on Tuesday morning,” Niebergall said.
