Senior Joe Kleven was named an all-state bowler at last Saturday’s conference meet. There are 129 varsity teams and about 22 conferences in Minnesota high school bowling. Kleven participated at the conference meet of the top 8 players with the highest scores from the season from each conference. Joe was included in the top 8 players from the Metro West conference, coming from our own Benilde-St. Margaret’s. These skilled bowlers go on to create a team to play other conference teams from all over Minnesota.

Joe, along with 15 other bowlers from the conference meet, then received the all-state member awards. “You have to hit about 89 percent or more of all your shots,” Kleven said. It is all about accuracy, consistency, and a lot of bowling. “You have to bowl a lot of strikes and spares and you can’t miss many shots.” Kleven said.

The bowling season has now come to a full stop. “We had our playoffs for the metrowest conference on the 14th of November and then conference was last Saturday so it’s all done,” Kleven said.
