The BSM girls’ swim team captured 3rd place and sent five swimmers to the State Meet at the Section 2A Meet on Friday, November 7, at St. Catherine’s University. Junior Grace Hedin, the biggest asset on the team this year, earned four 1st place medals en route to being named Section 2A Swimmer of the Meet.  Not only did she win the 200 and 100 yard freestyle, but she also was a part of the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relay teams that set meet records. Along with her on these state qualifying relays were eighth grader Ava Schieffert and sophomores Maria Satre and Claire Torgerson. The 50 yard freestyle was a solid event for the Red Knights, as Torgerson and Schieffert qualified individually for State by earning 2nd and 4th place, respectively. Torgerson also was runner-up in the 100 yard butterfly to punch her ticket to State in that event. Sophomore Madison Semler gave the team a boost on the longer races, earning 5th in the 200 yard freestyle and 2nd in the 500 yard freestyle to swim both of those events at State for the third year in a row. “I was very happy about how we did, very proud of the girls on the relay, and I was very surprised that we broke the records,” Torgerson said.
