The BSM girls’ swim team swam in the Section 2A Prelims on Wednesday, November 5, at St. Catherine’s University.  The Red Knights saw many swimmers make it to the Friday night Finals, as a number of them placing in the top 16, and a number of them placed in the top 8 to swim in the Championship Final. Junior Grace Hedin proved to be the star of the night, seeding first in the 200 and 100 yard freestyle events going into finals.  Young talent came from eighth grader Ava Schieffert, as she placed third in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle.  The Red Knights had some great relay performances, as the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Schieffert, freshman Abigail Gage, and sophomores Gracey Scott and Maria Satre placed third.  The 400 yard freestyle relay, which placed second, consisted of teammates Satre, Schieffert, senior captain Colleen Alexander, and Hedin.  “We had a lot of young girls make it to the championship heat like Elle Dickey in the breaststroke and its been a long time since we’ve had a good breaststroker and Ava Schieffert in both of her events, so we did really well with a lot of people making it to the finals,” Scott said.
