Girls swim and dive outperformed by Chaska in homecoming meet

The BSM girls’ swim and dive team suffered their second consecutive loss of the season, falling to the Chaska Hawks 69-101 on Thursday, September 11. Swimming against Chaska for the first time, junior Grace Hedin had a huge impact of the meet, winning both the 200 and 100 yard freestyle events. The Red Knights also won the 400-yard freestyle relay with Hedin and sophomores Maria Satre, Madison Semler, and Claire Torgerson. Torgerson scored valuable points by winning the 50-yard freestyle, but also made a costly blunder. In a warm up period after winning the 50-yard freestyle, she dove into the pool to warm up for the 100-yard butterfly, her second event of the night.  This act of diving into the pool is prohibited during the warm up period, and thus resulted in her disqualification from the 100-yard butterfly.  “I had just swum the 50 free and then I was really tired so I wasn’t really thinking so I just dove in.  After I dove in, I realized that it was illegal,” Torgerson said.
