Red Knights use late goal to force tie vs. Wayzata

In their first major game of the 2013-2014 season, the top ranked Benilde-St. Margaret’s girls’ hockey team skated to a tie with the sixth ranked Wayzata Trojans. Thanks to a pair of goals from senior captain Caitlin Reilly, the Red Knights led 2-0 going into the third period. However, the momentum quickly swung into the Trojans favor as they scored three unanswered goals to take the 3-2 lead. The Red Knights began to push hard for the equalizer and were rewarded when Kelly Pannek finished off a great individual effort to tie the game with three minutes to play in regulation. An eight minute overtime settled nothing and the game ended in a 3-3 tie. The Red Knights maintained their undefeated record and moved to 3-0-1 on the young season.
