Coming off of a 21-6 victory over the Irondale Knights, the Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knights defeated the Tartan Titans 48-27 in the Red Knights’ final regular season home game.

The Red Knights scored two early touchdowns to take a 12-0 lead after the first quarter, but the Titans were able to get cut the lead to 21-12 in the final minutes of the first half. A muffed punt gave the Red Knights excellent field position and the Red Knights scored their fourth touchdown of the game to take a 26-14 lead into halftime. “We knew they had the potential to explode offensively, so we had to make every drive count, and we did” senior captain Jeremy Pastir said.

The Red Knights were able to put away the Titans in the second half with two long drives for touchdowns and great ball security. Tartan added a touchdown on the game’s final play, but the Red Knights earned a 48-27 victory on Senior Night.

Senior quarterback Keaton Studsrud accounted for five total touchdowns and running backs Nate Barry and Peter Watkins led a rushing attack that accounted for 299 yards.

The Red Knights’ next game will be on Wednesday when they face Spring Lake Park and look to capture their first conference title since 2004. “It’s all about being physical with them and shutting down their run game,” Pastir said.
