After pushing themselves to improve their running technique and strategies at recent practices, the girls’ cross country team had the opportunity to showcase their skills at the Milaca Mega Meet, one of the biggest high school races in the country, on September 21. Sophomore Mae Fullerton, who almost did not race due to shin splints, recorded a personal best time and set a school record at the event. The team had four players win awards, and took 8th place overall out of twenty-two teams in their division. The team is full of energy, continuing to get better through practice, and is looking forward to an exciting season. “In my four years coaching the team, this is the deepest group I have gotten to work with. Now if we can stay healthy and injury free, we will be a strong team, and I am hoping that we can get a couple of individuals to the state meet this year” Coach Casey Hanson said.
