A gentleman’s guide to swag and style

If anyone knows fashion, it’s Knight Errant staff writers Will Jarvis and Eric Wagner. These mavericks have conducted research on Pinterest and other websites to concoct cool and trendy summer outfits. After a lackluster summer of men’s fashion last year, Will and Eric want to rejuvenate the looks that they know will have a place in summer fashion for years to come.

TOP
Guys, you better get to the weight room this spring because tank tops are in this summer. Show off those flawless biceps as you rock a trendy tank. Don’t be “that guy” who wears the white cut-off shirt because everyone will be wearing these out and about this summer so you’ll want your shirt to scream, “HEY! LOOK AT ME!” Do this by wearing loud colors like neon green or yellow.

There are numerous types of tank tops that are popular, but the “bro tank” is always a hit. Show your masculinity by wearing a cut-off sports tee, or take a stance for an issue you feel seriously about and wear a cut-off tank that proves you’re an activist.

SHORTS
A lot of people wear jean shorts as a joke, but this summer, you won’t look funny wearing “jorts,” you’ll look stylish! This look is quite popular with celebrities like John Travolta and Nic Cage and you can see these looks on the red carpet. The look is done best when a pair of used jeans is purchased at a second-hand clothing shop. Cut a few inches above the knees and enjoy all the attention you will soon attract!

Blue shorts look great as well, but only if there is an elastic waistline so you’ll never outgrow them. Light blue looks good with most vibrant colors and the shorts should be no longer than two inches above the knee. You might want to hit the spray tanning salon so those pasty white thighs don’t blind anyone.

SHOES
Girls love guys who are athletic – or so we’re told. Nike Air Force 1’s are the perfect shoes for an athlete on the go. Not only do they provide superior comfort, they also make you seem more athletic and you can trick girls into thinking you lift weights. Wear these with Nike socks to make a loud fashion statement.

Another popular choice this summer is the Sperry-Topsider boat shoe. Best worn with clashing socks, these breathe well and look good with jean shorts – or any type of shorts really! They’re very stylish, but only if worn with black Nike socks.

ACCESSORIES
Famous fashion designer Marc Jacobs once said, “An outfit without accessories is like peanut butter without jelly. It just doesn’t work.” Everyone knows it’s true, and this summer, the hot item for young men is the hat. Trucker baseball caps provide a nostalgic look that says, “There’s a strong chance I have a Southern accent,” or “I haven’t washed myself in a few days,” both of which make ladies swoon.

No summertime stud is complete without his trusty shades. They have to be big enough to show indifference to society, yet small enough to allow for a full range of swag motion. The aviator glasses, when pulled off successfully, will have every girl at Lollapalooza thinking you’re either Leonardo DiCaprio or an overconfident mall cop.
