Boys’ lacrosse falls to the Eagles in first game of season

The Benilde-St. Margaret’s boys’ lacrosse team opened the regular season in a tough matchup against the number two ranked team in state, falling to the Eden Prairie Eagles 14-3. The Eagles dominated offensively with seven different players scoring and a successful shutdown defense.

Junior Mikey Lamb scored a goal in the last second of the first half to cut the Eagles’ lead to 4-1, but a controlling second half by Eden Prairie ended any hopes of a comeback for the Red Knights. Eagle freshman J.D. Spielmann scored a hat trick in his first varsity start, and his team backed him up with 10 second half goals. “We spent way too much time on defense which didn’t allow our offense to get many good possessions,” junior captain Jake Donlin said.
