Reminders of Him had me on the edge of my seat the whole time I watched it. This movie is based on the book Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover. The story centers on Kenna, who is striving for redemption after spending years in prison. Kenna is doing everything to reunite with her child, Diem, after some trouble she got in years ago. This movie was full of emotional twists and turns.
First, I loved how the soundtrack in this film really helped move the plot along. The soundtrack made me emotionally connected to the movie. I was also drawn to the main character, Kenna. Throughout the movie, you could see the pain in her eyes and how much she was going through. As I read the book, it was touching to see the characters’ emotions acted out throughout the movie, especially because this film is full of emotion. The scene where they walk us through the car crash with Kenna and her beloved Scotty was by far the most touching moment of the movie. I had tears streaming down my face because you could see how the two thought they were invincible and so in love, and that one wrong move could change everything.
Towards the end of the movie, I loved the drama and messiness that comes with this film. Ledger and Scotty’s family, who are watching Diem, get into a fight with Ledger when they find out he’s been seeing Kenna. Scotty’s family wants absolutely nothing to do with Kenna, as she left Scotty at the car crash to die. Ledger was just trying to help Kenna see Diem, who she had never seen because she had been in prison for 7 years. I love Ledger and how he will do anything for Kenna, even if that means jeopardizing the relationship with Scotty’s parents. Another character that I love is Lady Diana. Whenever she showed up on the screen, the whole theater would laugh. She added a comedic element to the movie, making some sad moments more lighthearted, which I enjoyed.
Overall, I enjoyed this movie. It was a beautiful plot full of emotional ups and downs. It was messy when Ledger started falling for Kenna, as Ledger was best friends with Scotty. However, the ending of this movie is beautiful and a full-circle moment for Kenna. I love seeing how quickly Diems and Kenna’s relationship grows at the end. I recommend this movie for anyone who loves romantic movies full of drama.
