BSM students welcome a new principal, Mr. Dan Wrobleski, this year. Wrobleski may seem like just the new morning announcements person, but there is much more to him than that. After having a series of different principals and interim principals in our school community, Wrobleski hopes to be a good, steady addition to our community here at Benilde-Saint Margaret’s.
Even before he started his term, his goal was to be full of school spirit and eager to join our BSM family. It was clear that he was not only a strong leader, but he also carried a great deal of compassion and kindness for all of our staff and students. The principal is supposed to set the tone for the entire school. Wrobleski wants to have a positive outcome after many years of inconsistency and change.
Wrobleski goes out of his way to show how he truly wants to get to know each of the students—he is commonly seen greeting students in the hall and trying to get familiar with names. He treats students with respect and dignity, meeting them on an equal level; even though he is the principal, he treats them like equals whose opinions matter. Although he is brand new, Mr. Wrobleski is not afraid to show off his newfound love for BSM. It is hard to miss him cheering as loudly as the students at sports games, and wearing as much school spirit as is found in the spirit shop. Senior Jack Kershner had nothing but positive things to say about Mr. Wrobleski. “It’s really cool seeing a role model like Mr. Wrobleski having a ton of school spirit. And I think that shows the whole school, and myself, that we all should have school spirit, especially for us seniors,” Kershner said.
Mr. Wrobleski has set a high bar for integrity, and how people are treated on social media and in person. “I’m never gonna accept negative things, racist things, or anything on social media. I don’t have to, and I won’t,” Wrobleski said.
He is very confident and proud of being the principal of our school. He feels as if it is an honor to walk through the halls of BSM. “I love the school spirit. You know, last week or the week before the volleyball game and football game, I thought it was super fun. I’m really looking forward to being at the games…and hopefully kids will let me cheer with them, because that’s what I want to do,” Wrobleski said.
