A Ranking of Taher Foods

Cheese+Tortellini+is+one+of+Tahers+finer+meals%2C+but+other+dishes+miss+the+mark
Elle Lindstrom
Cheese Tortellini is one of Taher’s finer meals, but other dishes miss the mark

Taher chefs work hard to bring a variety of delicious things to our lunch tables, and I am very grateful for the efforts they put in to ensure we students are well-fed. Taher has many successes under their belt in terms of yummy food. One thing Taher does well is that they include a lot of diversity in their lunch menu. Main dishes vary greatly, all the way from chicken curry to baked enchiladas. Sometimes this diversity is appreciated, other times it fails to capture the true essence of the real thing. Even some of the more basic dishes on the menu don’t match the quality expected. This is my ranking of Taher fails in order from passable to distasteful and what exactly is wrong with them.

The first item is Chicken strips, which are always slightly dry. However, they taste good when paired with a good sauce such as chipotle ranch or honey mustard. My complaint is that we aren’t given very many tenders with each meal. There should be at least three chicken tenders since they always have more bread than meat anyway. I often find that my hunger is barely curbed after lunch. I would rather trade in half my fries for another tender as they are more filling.
Second is the Italian Meatball sub, which has so much potential, if only the bun didn’t turn soggy from the massive amounts of red sauce they pile inside. The mushy texture of the sandwich is unappetizing and ruins the whole meal.

Next is the baked chicken, which is passable, but could be more tasty. It’s underseasoned and the meat is tough. The baked chicken is hard and time-consuming to eat, and therefore it is third on the list. My least favorite menu item is the chicken stir-fry. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s wrong with it, but the taste is less than satisfactory.

Then we have the potstickers, which are too dry, making them crunchy and hard to swallow. Even if it was the first time I had had potstickers, I would still know this is different from how they should taste. Finally, at the bottom of the list and most distasteful is the orange chicken. The orange chicken has way too much sauce, making for slippery and slimy chicken. This is one of the most unappealing dishes on the list. All in all, there is room for improvement with the dishes.
