Shakira’s first album in seven years does not disappoint.

Recently, Shakira dropped her first album in seven years, titled ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’, translating to ‘The Women No Longer Cry’. The album is centered around pain and healing while mixing fun pop and reggaeton elements. The songs send a beautiful message making it hard to stop listening. This album did not disappoint and many of the songs made my jaw drop. The lyrics and sound of the songs are just stunning, and even if you don’t speak Spanish the album is a great listen.

My favorite song on this album by far was ‘Cómo Dónde y Cuándo’ which was the sixth track on the album, and one of the few songs that weren’t collaborations. The song’s name translates to “How, Where and When.” From the lyrics to the bridge, this song is breathtaking. The song is about the ups and downs in life and making the most of it. The music and the lyrics work extremely well together and is a beautiful display of Shakria’s musical talents. My favorite collaboration of this album was ‘Puntería’ featuring Cardi B. Both artists do a magnificent job, and Cardi B’s Spanish sections blew my mind. The song is very upbeat and radiates confidence. Cardi B fits so well into this song and assisted in creating a strong opening track to an album about turning heartbreaks into victories.

I enjoyed ‘Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53’ because of its fast-paced beat that is guaranteed to hype you up. The song exudes positive energy. The collaboration for this album was Bizarrap, a songwriter and producer from Argentina. They seemed to have worked well together because this song is a hit.

Every song on this album has a strong start and powerful lyrics. My favorite song introduction is the beginning of (Entre Paréntesis). The music on this track is reminiscent of Colombian Cumbia music, which originates on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia. The music blends wonderfully with her lyrics and the song’s message.

The album did contain some sadder, more emotional songs that were beautiful and well-executed. I was pleasantly surprised by Shakria’s legendary collaborators on this album, for example, Karol G who won a Grammy for the Best Música Urbana Album earlier this year. On my first listen to this album, my jaw dropped, and I saved the album immediately. This album definitely deserves more recognition in non-Spanish-speaking countries, and I would recommend giving it a listen.
