On December 8th, rising pop star Tate McRae released her long-awaited sophomore album Think Later. During her United States tour titled Are We Flying, Tate teased some songs on her upcoming album, which created more anticipation for the record. Tate released her debut album, I Used to Think I Could Fly which sparked her fame in 2022 along with her hit single You Broke Me First. Think Later has 14 tracks totaling 38 minutes in total run time. Tate McRae’s Think Later easily lives up to all the hype.

I had very high expectations for this album, and she did not disappoint. Many of her fans would say the same. Some of my favorite tracks on the album are “Run for the Hills, Exes, and Grave,” but my all-time favorite is “Calgary.” I think Tate’s vocals truly stand out as she recounts the times growing up in Calgary, Alberta. This song shows her bittersweet memories of living in Calgary. This song is undoubtedly a love letter to her hometown and one of the best songs on her album.

Many of my favorite songs of Tate’s are upbeat. I still love her heartbreak songs, but I do feel that she really excels in her more upbeat and quicker songs. Going into the album, I expected more of a heartbreak theme, but I was proven wrong. Tate has taken a whole new shift in terms of the music theme for her songs. 8 of her 14 tracks on the album are more of this upbeat/hype-up type of new style she has decided to undertake.

This new style of songwriting she has taken on has fans raving about her new album and future songs. Think Later showcases Tate’s boundless vocal talent and evolution as a songwriter. This album shows the all too relatable feelings during relationships.

After already going to her concert this past fall, her new album makes the anticipation of her next concert this summer even better. This album shows a new style of Tate’s writing that has already blown the whole world away. Think Later is filled with many incredible songs and is definitely worth a listen.
