Benilde-St. Margaret’s has a lot of school spirit especially when it comes to sports, as they are a major part of the school culture. Luckily for athletes, many students take time to attend many of BSM’s different sporting events, especially the fan favorites.

One of the most popular sporting events to attend for many BSM students is the Boys’ Hockey games. For this team, the tradition for senior girls is the opportunity to be a superfan. This allows students to get involved with supporting the team on another level. The superfans get provided jerseys to wear that show their support of their player to help cheer them on. “I think it’s really fun to be involved in the Benilde-St. Margarent’s community and being able to have this opportunity to be able to represent my fellow Red Knights, especially because Boys’ hockey is my favorite sport to watch,” senior Shale Hornig, a hockey superfan said.

Another sport that is enjoyed by many BSM students is our football games. It is a time that the school comes together to support the team, especially because of the team’s recent successes. “My favorite sport to watch at BSM is football because of it’s a good atmosphere in the student section and I like being there with my friends and watching the team itself,” freshman Connor Gugger said.

Their performance, costumes, and dances entertain the crowds, making the BSM dance team another widely popular sport for students to watch. They perform at pep fests along with the football game halftimes in the fall. This is when most students see them perform and show their support. However, during the winter season, students go to watch their meets, specifically to cheer them on at state. “I think the dance team has a really entertaining performance and it helps me feel more connected to the community. I respect the athletes and the hard work they put into their sport,” junior Grace Facinelli said.

Boys’ Lacrosse is a legacy at BSM that many students in the spring like to go and enjoy. There are also super fans for this sport, which can make watching more exciting. The team’s dynamic is strong and it is apparent to fans and the team, making it even more exciting to watch. “I feel like I know all the guys I know their play tendencies, so when I see them succeeding, like makes it more interesting,” senior Sky Rold said.
