The Hall of Honor ceremony celebrated dedicated members of the BSM community.

BSM hosted their annual Hall of Honor ceremony on Monday, January 31 in the Great Hall. The Hall of Honor is a program that celebrates members of the BSM community for their dedication and contribution to the school.

The event consisted of a reception, dinner, and program where winners of the Red Knight Leadership Award, Distinguished Alumni Award, and Volunteer Service Award were recognized. They also recognized the new inductees to the Twenty Year Club, which is staff members who have been employed at BSM for 20 years. Both the 2021 and 2022 inductees were recognized since the Hall of Honor could not happen last year due to COVID-19. Other than the extra inductees, COVID-19 did not change any aspects of the event.

Just under 200 people were in attendance. Guests included BSM faculty members as well as the family members of inductees and award recipients. They all wanted to show their support and appreciation for those being recognized. “[I was] a little bit sheepish about asking people to show up at the school on school night and what not, but being there was a really nice affirming experience. I was really touched to mix worlds and have my sister and brother-in-law be there,” Twenty Year Club Inductee and BSM English teacher Anna Overbo said.

Being inducted into the Twenty Year Club prompted Overbo to reflect on her many years at BSM. “I would sum it up like a mosaic…there are a lot of distinct images and memories of different students and different moments, but then it’s also really funny to take a step back and look at the pattern and see an overall pattern of growth,” Overbo said.

BSM has been putting the Hall of Honor on since 1996. Plaques listing the names of everyone who has been recognized each year the event has been held are displayed in one of the hallways of the school. The plaques show how this tradition has been able to stay alive due to the great work of many members of the BSM community over the years. The Hall of Honor aims to express gratitude for these honorable people on behalf of the school. “It really celebrates all the different ways that people in our community give back to the school,” Director of Alumni Relations and Parent Stewardship Rachel Olson said.
