Girls Soccer picks up first conference win

The Red Knights proved their conference dominance with a 4-2 victory over the Irondale Knights. Irondale jumped out to a one goal lead with 21 minutes left in the first half, but sophomore forward Aleksa Tataryn scored with 9:49 left in the half to knot the game at one. With four seconds left in the half, junior Jordan Maddaus sent a cross into the box that deflected off a defender and fell into the net; Freshman Maria Van Hove was credited with the goal. Seniors Kelly Pannek and Andrea Saavedra both added goals early in the second half to expand the lead to 4-1. Irondale’s Rachael Norton added her second goal of the game with under 10 minutes left, making the score look a little bit closer than the game truly was. The Red Knights next take on section rival Orono on Saturday, September 7th.
