Basketball loses close one to Columbia Heights

After a tough loss to Irondale on Tuesday, the Red Knights were again defeated 41-40 to the Columbia Heights Hylanders. The Red Knights were able to hold the up-tempo Hylanders in check during the first half and took a 26-23 lead going into halftime. The defenses continued their hold on the game with the Red Knights scoring only 14 points the second half even though they held the Hylanders to 18 points. In the final seconds, the Hylanders were fouled and connected on two free-throws to give Columbia Heights a 41-40 lead. On the Red Knight’s last possession Colin Polarek’s three-pointer hit the rim, giving the Hylanders the win. Jayson Edwards and senior captain Alex Alexander both scored 10 points to lead the Red Knights, but the lack of offense was key in the Red Knight’s defeat.
