Longtime girls’ swim and dive team member Rachel Thorstenson, a senior, won the section 2A diving title during the section meet at St. Catherine University and advanced to the state tournament on Wednesday, November 7. Thorstenson has been on the dive team since her freshman year, and this is her second time advancing to the state tournament. She put in a lot of hard work and time over the summer training with her club team, Minnesota Diving Academy. “It really helped me improve my skills and, more importantly, it helped my confidence at meets knowing how much training I have had,” Thorstenson said. The training has paid off, as she’ll soon have her chance at a state title. “I know that I can make the podium, but I can’t go into the meet expecting a certain place, I just expect myself to do what I know I am capable of and the rest will fall into place.”
