Girls’ swimming narrowly beats Jefferson in new conference matchup

In their first meet of the season, the BSM girls’ swim team pulled off a close 91-89 victory over their new Metro West Conference rival Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars on Thursday, September 4.  Facing a team with a diving squad, the Red Knights relied only on swimmers as they were heavy underdogs going into this early season contest.  BSM overcame an eleven point deficit to win the meet by two points. The girls needed first and third place finishes in the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, to win the meet, but instead captured first and second with a winning team of junior Grace Hedin and sophomores Maria Satre, Claire Torgerson, and Madison Semler.  “Considering that it was the first meet of the season and we were down by eleven points because they had a diving team, our team had a good performance,” Semler said.
