Truman Kinne, Staff Writer
While many are perplexed by Truman’s intellectual capabilities, his favorite passion is that of a simpler time: harvesting wild rice. Every Thursday afternoon in the month of September, one can find Truman and his Uncle Pete at any one of the 1,200 Minnesota basins and streams where wild rice flourishes. When asked why he performs such an ancient task Truman admits, “There’s nothing I love more than running my cedar rice sticks through the wetland rice stocks.” Once he graduates from college and has sufficient time, he plans on educating the youth on the simple pleasures of harvesting wild rice.
