Must-watch movies during quarantine
Ah, quarantine. What a wonderful time to be alive. This following list consists of what I believe to be the five best movies to watch while practicing social distancing. They vary in both length and genre, so you will never get bored. Enjoy!
Trainwreck
First, we’ve got Trainwreck. I had to add at least one rom-com to this list, and Trainwreck’s creative twist on the classic rom-com dilemma is what earned its spot. Amy Schumer plays a journalist in New York City who’s a little too old to still be acting like she just got out of college. She eventually has to write an article on a sports doctor played by Bill Hader. The film follows their love story and how it unfolds.
World War Z
Next on the list is World War Z. I should advise before watching that this might be extra disturbing to watch in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. The film revolves around a former high-profile military soldier, Gerry Lane, played by Brad Pitt. Once the zombie apocalypse breaks out throughout the world, Gerry is brought on various missions to help figure out how to bring an end to the virus.
The Platform
This film is definitely the scariest on my list. This new Netflix film takes place in a sophisticated prison. Each prisoner is placed in vertical cellars where the top levels are fed first and watch all those below them starve. The film dives deep into complicated psychology and parallels the issues many are often faced while leaving in a capitalist society.
The Incredibles 2
A Pixar animated classic had to be added to this list in order for it to be legit. This brilliant film is the second chapter of the story following the Parr family. Elastigirl is asked by a local businessman to join a campaign that would restore the poor reputation of superheroes. While doing this, Mr. Incredible is forced to face the challenges of being a stay-home parent. At the same time, a new villain called the Screenslaver has hypnotized the world through screens and must be stopped.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
With Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Brad Pitt appears on our list again. This film revolves around various actors in Hollywood who have achieved great success. The director, Quentin Tarantino, made the film to depict what he wished happened to late actress Sharon Tate.
