The warming temperatures are upon us meaning, spring sports have arrived. Track season is here, and the team is ready to run. The captains: Dominic Pellegrene, Aidan Luebke, Matt Guggemos, Frankie Lynch, Walker Niebergall, Marta Helseth, Meagan Steck, Kennedy Harris, Maddie Marusich, and Erin Long along with the team are thrilled for this upcoming season.

The team goal is to make it to True Team state for the second time, and they hope to see personal and school bests from the athletes. “We are hoping to break three school records this year such as the 100 meter, 200 meter, and the triple jump. Meets are important because it gives you a chance to see how well our training has paid off. It gives you an opportunity to go all out and beat your individual times,” Guggemos said.

The team has many returning people and newcomers as well. “I want to form strong relationships with the younger kids to reassure themselves since they are new to the team,” Helseth said.

The captains all agree that they look to lead the team on game days as well as during daily practice. “Our goal is to help lead the team in drills and warm-ups, leading in a good example at practices and meets,” Pellegrene said.

The team has track meets Tuesdays and Thursdays. “I want this to be an amazing season and keep positivity throughout the full season and improve our individual/team times,” Luebke said.
