The new cross will be mounted on the windows of the new addition, seen just behind the cross.

On Tuesday, November 20, students gathered outside for a unique opportunity to bless the cross that will hang from the new construction. Leading all of the students in the service were Father Tim Wozniak and Mr. Mike Jeremiah. “I thought [the ceremony] was very nice. Even though it was a little chilly. It’s something that everybody will remember,” Jeremiah said.

Being outside really brought some realism to the cross. It’s not a cross for inside; it’s one that will be hung outside of our school as a symbol of our faith to the world.

This cross blessing will be a memorable experience for Benilde-St.Margaret’s, as the cross will hang outside and many students will walk past it in the future. “Being outdoors where its actually going to be hung, I think it is important that people bear as it was being hung there and then to know that its eventually going to be hung up on our school in that one location,” Jeremiah said.

The presentation took place during homeroom, shortening first hour and second hour by five minutes each. In order to participate, all students gathered on the baseball field. Standing outside was a chilly experience, but students cooperated despite the weather. “Being outside really brought some realism to the cross. It’s not a cross for inside; it’s one that will be hung outside of our school as a symbol of our faith to the world,” Jeremiah said.
