The Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knights are quite familiar with the Blake Bears. Perennial section rivals, the two schools have met each other in numerous section final games, and both have proven to be lacrosse powerhouses in the state of Minnesota. On Thursday, May 30th, the two teams met once again for a section semifinal game, where the Bears came out on top, defeating the Red Knights 8-7 in a nailbiter.

BSM led 5-4 going into the second half and added to the lead in the third quarter when junior Josh Werkmeister scored, putting the Red Knights up 6-4. Blake tied it by the end of the third quarter, and took the lead early in the final quarter. The Bears held on for a 8-7 win, ending the Red Knights’ season.”Overall I thought we had a good season, but it was a disappointing way to end it, ” Werkmeister said.
