The boys’ varsity baseball team’s hopes for a conference championship were dampened with a 12-1 loss to Totino-Grace on May 20. Aside from a minor pitching mistake to Totino-Grace’s lead off batter, junior Joe Melles pitched exceptionally well for the first few innings with one walk and one strike-out. The Red Knights felt as if the Eagles’ offense, poor pitching, and the heavy downpour contributed to the lopsided outcome. “It was kind of a disappointing loss; Totino was hitting really well and the rain may have affected how we played,” said junior Scott Quinby. “We gave up a few too many walks.”
