The Red Knights are getting their 2024 Christmas lists ready extra early this year. Although the holiday is over a month away, students seem to find joy in making their lists this year during their free time. However, where are the Red Knights getting their ideas from this holiday season? Why are they starting on their lists over a month in advance? What are the latest shopping deals they have discovered?
Senior Kate Jaeger has a bit of a different approach to her holiday season. Instead of packing her Christmas list with requests for clothes or skincare, Jaeger’s favorite gift every year is the gift that she gives back. Jaeger and her family take the time to give back to their community by using the resources the holiday season provides them with. “My brother and I, and all of our cousins make tie blankets to give to the people in the homeless shelters. We like to give back to the less fortunate during the holiday season” Jaeger said.
However, there are still many Red Knight students who take a traditional approach to their Christmas lists. With that being said, it can be difficult to come up with realistic items to ask for. That is where students seek help from popular social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram Reels. Sophomore Emily Guggenburger finds inspiration for her list from her Tik Tok “For You Page”. “My top thing on my Christmas list is probably the platform Ugg slippers. I saw them on Tik Tok and I thought they would be a good Christmas present,” Guggenburger said.
Red Knights are all about good holiday deals. This holiday season, the students at BSM are gearing up for all the big and upcoming sales coming their way. Big brands such as Sephora and Urban Outfitters are offering deals of up to 20% off their entire store’s product selections. Whether the students are purchasing gifts for themselves or others, they never miss out on a chance to save money. “I really like thrifting, so during the holidays Plato’s Closet has a sale in Minnetonka around Thanksgiving that discounts the store at around 50% for a day and I go then. Otherwise, some stores I go to have a day around the holidays where you can fill a bag with as much as you can for a set price, and that’s a fun way to save money too. I also like doing online shopping because sales are so easy to find on Black Friday,” Vonhof said.
Overall, the Red Knights are ready for the 2024 Christmas season, and cannot wait to give back this holiday as well as receive some special gifts of their own.
