The seniors at Benilde-St. Margaret’s are being reminded early this school year of their upcoming graduation. On October 9th, 2024, an email was sent out to all current seniors reminding them to order their cap and gowns for graduation, which happens to be eight months away. The question remains if this seems to be too early of a reminder that the seniors’ time at BSM is slowly coming to a close.
Although these forms were mandatory to send out early in the year in order to meet the deadline for the cap and gown arrival dates, some students expressed their opinions on the very early release date. With classes only starting less than three months ago, the senior class is starting to feel the pressures of their last year here at Benilde. “It’s way too early for this. I feel like I haven’t even started my senior year yet,” says Culbert.
The class of 2025 has started to have their first of many lasts; homecoming, Friday night lights, and midterms. These small events have been particularly emotional for the class of 2025, as it marks the countdown to their final moments here at Benilde with their classmates. “It was kind of just a reminder that the year goes really fast, even when you least expect it, and we’re all going to be done soon. So enjoy every moment,” Eilertson said.
Although this time in the Red Knights’ life is emotional, it also shows the strong student body that has been established in the class of 2025 at Benilde-St. Margaret’s. The seniors’ school spirit has shined through during volleyball games, pep rallies, and school assemblies. The cap and gown form was a wake-up call for all current seniors to soak up the final moments with their classmates. As Sanderson comes to a slow close on her time here at Benilde, she recalls an all too familiar message engraved in her roots here at BSM: “Once a Red Knight, always a Red Knight.”
