As the leaves outside are starting to change from green to red, it is only right to cozy up with a soft blanket, a mug of hot cocoa, and a pumpkin-scented candle to enjoy your favorite TV shows and movies. The colors and scents of autumn set the scene to make a TV binge extra special. As the evenings become longer, it is the ideal time to slow down, relax, and enjoy your favorite films and shows.
Many students of BSM welcome the fall season by revisiting nostalgic shows and movies that evoke a sense of tradition. Classic spookies and heartwarming dramas are popular among Red Knights and are often rewatched as an annual ritual. “Every fall I like to watch Hocus Pocus. I’ve made it a tradition by watching it every year, it reminds me of being in elementary school and watching movies with my mom,” senior Abby Urbaniak said.
With the combination of nostalgia, coziness, and warmth in the air, the students of Benilde-St. Margaret’s are ready for the season of comfort watching. Shows like Gilmore Girls capture the essence of fall, by combining warm drinks and crisp cold air with heartfelt stories. “I like the aesthetic of Gilmore Girls. I feel like it reminds me of a pumpkin spice chai, October, and leaves falling,” senior Marina Vonhof said.
Any good movie can be made better with a snack and something to sip on. Pumpkin flavors are a staple for students when they are watching, especially when seasons are changing. “I like iced pumpkin chais. I also like pumpkin chocolate chip muffins that my mom makes,” senior Tori Hopkins said.
From the comfort of a living room couch to a hidden nook, everyone has their personal favorite place to wind down. It is all about creating the perfect atmosphere; for some students, that means laying alone in their bed, and for others, it means joining their family on the sofa. “My favorite place to watch is at my cabin. It has a more rustic feel, with a fire to get cozy,” Vonhof said.
For many Red Knights, comfort watching is more than a way to pass time; it is a tradition. It is a way to connect with the season, loved ones, and memories. So grab your favorite snack, find your coziest blanket, and start to watch as the magic of fall takes over.
