With the season of autumn comes new seasons of many TV shows. Although there are many options to choose from, I’ve always found myself most enjoying ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.
Over the last few weeks, season 33 of Dancing with the Stars has been airing. On the night of the premiere, the cast delivered their first live performance captivating viewers at home. Since then, the cast truly set the bar high for future seasons. Out of all the contestants I watched on the premiere, here are my top four teams:
Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold
Alongside a contagious team spirit, and overall athletic ability, Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold hold my favorite spot in the entire cast. Nedoroscik and Arnold, also known as team “Arnold Pommel,” have the most entertaining bond in my opinion. Their first dance was a jive to “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen. I loved to see the up-beat tune accompanied by their quick movements, but I was disappointed it was so short. That being said, I still was very pleased with their first performance, and I have developed high expectations for this team. I would give them an 8 out of 10 at least.
Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong
I love team “Chan and Bran!” Kinney already has some dance background, and it shines through as early as her first performance. For their first dance, they were tasked with a tango to the song “HOT TO GO!” by Chappell Roan. I think the partnership between Kinney and Armstrong has been so entertaining to watch; I didn’t hesitate to send in my votes to keep them competing in the show. I’m very excited to see what future dances they will have as I believe they’ve got the potential to win the entire season. I would give them an 8 out of 10.
Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten
What is not to love about this team? Their fun dynamic accompanied by both of their incredible athleticism makes it hard to not root for team “CUT-A-RUGby.” I did notice that Maher doesn’t necessarily have the same dance experience as the other contestants due to her strict commitments to the women’s USA rugby team. Although she might require a greater amount of practice as the season progresses, I think she has the potential to make it far into the competition with her hard work ethic and positive attitude. On the night of the premiere, they were assigned a cha-cha to “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” by Shania Twain. I think it was the perfect opening performance for these two as it beautifully expressed the simple fact that they came here to win it all. I would give them a 7 out of 10 for their first performance.
Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson
Because of Johnson’s outstanding choreography, she has never failed to bring out the star’s talents throughout each dance. Immediately after their first cha-cha to “Dancin’ in the Country” by Tyler Hubbard, their dance quickly became an internet sensation on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, and that’s not surprising to me. Not only does Graziadei already have a stable fanbase after appearing in ABC’s “The Bachelor,” but his high energy and positive spirit make him very enjoyable to watch. After taking all of this into consideration, I would have to give their first dance an 8 out of 10.
Overall, I think season 33 of Dancing with the Stars is going to be one for the books. With the outstanding choreography, fun partnerships, and nail-biting competition, this season might become my new favorite. I cannot wait to see how the rest of the season plays out!
