The Kung Fu Panda movie series has been nothing short of a complete success. It has produced over 2 billion dollars in revenue since the first Kung Fu Panda came out in theaters in 2008. Shortly after its release it was up for Academy Awards and eventually won Best Animated Feature in 2009. It was a big enough success that Dreamworks Animation has continued to make new Kung Fu Panda movies.
Kung Fu Panda 4 and its storyline are laid out similarly to the past movies of the series. It is based around Po, the lovable panda in the movie as well as a fox that comes onto the scene. This movie uses a lot of the same cast members used in the past Kung Fu Panda movies. These cast members include Jack Black starring as Po, Awkwafina playing Zhen, and Dustin Hoffman playing Master Shifu. Po and Master Shifu have been staple characters since the original Kung Fu Panda movie. However, Kung Fu Panda 4 introduces a new character that plays a big role throughout the movie: a fox named Zhen. Zhen enters the movie originally by getting caught by Po and put in jail for trying to steal some precious items from The Valley of Peace. She eventually ends up joining Po on his adventures.
Kung Fu Panda 4 may be targeted at a younger audience, however, it is still full of good content throughout the movie. It uses some very good music, such as retro song instruments from songs like “Crazy Train”, that matches the tone of the movie at different times. Kung Fu Panda 4 has many calm moments throughout combined with multiple scenes of action-packed moments. The movie used some old school music covered with instrumentals to give it a more unique and different feel to the song. The volume throughout the movie is adjusted well making certain scenes get more intense by changes of sound.
I think this Kung Fu Panda was the best one of the series because of how Po’s role in the movie changes. He starts to become a higher level than dragon fighter, making him responsible to find someone new to fill his role. The other Kung Fu Panda movies all have Po as the hero all by himself but in this movie he gets some help along the way.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Kung Fu Panda 4 to all audiences as it has many qualities that fit the interests of all sorts of people.
