Free hours at BSM are a great time to catch up on work throughout the day. Sometimes school can be really demanding and stressful, and it’s always nice to be able to take a break, relax, and catch up on work. For freshman and sophomore students, BSM requires free periods to be in a designated area with a supervisor. Juniors and seniors are allowed to be in other areas of the school with more freedom, and seniors are even allowed to leave campus if they choose to do so. But what are the best times to have a study hall or a free period? Read more to find out.
One of my favorite times to have a free period is first. For seniors, if you have first period free, you can come late to school at 9:00 instead of 8:00, which can be really beneficial for those who tend to stay up late. For students who aren’t seniors, having a free period first can be a really good way to start the day. You can catch up on work if you forgot to do a homework assignment the night before, or study for a test you might have later in the day.
Another reason that having a free period first thing in the morning is the best is that your brain and your body have more time to wake up and be ready to learn. Most times, when I’m in class at 8:00 in the morning, I am always struggling to keep my eyes open, so I know it would be nice to wake up and have a free period.
The next best hour to have free is your last class. Again, if you’re a senior, you can leave school early and your school day will be shortened. For the rest of the grades, having the last hour free can be a great way to start some of your homework that you might have to get out of the way. You can also use this time to talk to teachers or retake some tests if needed.
Students at BSM enjoy spending their study hall or free period doing a number of different things. Whether it’s catching up on work, watching a movie, listening to music, or just talking with friends, having some free time during the school day to choose what you want to do can be really refreshing. It can allow students to take a breath and have a break from being in a traditional classroom.
