In terms of celebrations and holidays in general, which one is better, Christmas or Thanksgiving? I’ll tell you what the answer is: it’s obviously Christmas.
Let’s start by breaking down these two pretty significant holidays. Thanksgiving is all about celebrating your blessings from the year. It’s a time for family and friends to come together and reminisce about positive things. Traditionally, family and friends gather for a dinner usually consisting of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and the famous pumpkin pie. This holiday can be a great time for families who live far away from each other to catch up and spend time together.
Christmas is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus, but it’s often celebrated by non-Christians as well. You know that Christmas is around the corner when the grass is covered with white powder, Christmas lights are twinkling on every house on your block, and toy stores are sold out of their most popular toys to fulfill the wants of the little ones. Just like Thanksgiving, Christmas is a wonderful time to reconnect with loved ones, take time for yourself, and think of others. Popular customs for Christmas include gift-giving, decorating a beautiful tree, attending church and Mass, and being with the people you love.
So why is Christmas better than Thanksgiving? Let’s be realistic: there are people who wait all year for Christmas— people who go all out with gifts, decorations, and food. Thanksgiving is a fun holiday, don’t get me wrong, but it definitely can’t compare with Christmas. Thanksgiving is, believe it or not, coming up soon, and I’ve heard zero talk about it. Christmas talk, however, is something that I hear constantly. Stores are already selling Christmas items, I scroll through my TikTok for you page and all I see are Christmas-related videos, and everyone is already purchasing decorations and trees.
My favorite aspect of Christmas is the overall feel of the holiday. It’s way better than the overall feel of Thanksgiving. There’s snow on the ground, hot chocolate purchased every day, planning and purchasing gifts, and decorations. Christmas is all about waking up on Christmas morning seeing all the presents under the tree, the stockings hanging above the fireplace stuffed to the brim with little goodies, and the feelings of joy and happiness being with your family as you unwrap your presents.
In conclusion, there are several reasons why I believe that Christmas is better than Thanksgiving. Christmas is way more well known for its joyful times and fun memories. Christmas is approaching faster than I expected and I personally am thrilled to see everyone’s decorations, Christmas hauls, and fun energy during this holiday season.
