The National Letter of Intent is a legal contract between prospective athletes, NCAA institutions, and states that the athletes agree to attend. This also marked the end of the recruiting process for the student-athletes who participated. These students signed in front of their families, peers, and coaches. BSM recognized and celebrated many student-athletes who have made a commitment and signed to a school on Wednesday. Most came wearing college apparel representing their future school. Banners, school logos, and athlete names were hung, and balloons with school colors were in the air.
BSM had 15 students that signed: Jack Anderson to James Madison University for baseball, Gus Bell to West Point for lacrosse, Jack Bourget to Providence College for lacrosse, Solen Chiodi to University of Michigan for gymnastics, Ellery Clark to Tufts University for volleyball, Karsyn Elliott to University of Mount Olive for lacrosse, Axel Esco to Queens University of Charlotte for lacrosse, Julia Evens to Marquette University for lacrosse, Kiya Gilliand to University of Wisconsin-Madison for soccer, Caleb Koskie to Indiana University for baseball, Colin McGie to University of Sioux Falls for baseball, Olivia Olson to University of Michigan for basketball, Hunter Payer to Colorado College for lacrosse, Sky Rold to University of Utah for lacrosse, and Izzy Saffert to Carnegie Mellon University for volleyball.
Signing with a college for sports is a very big deal and a great accomplishment for senior Gus Bell. Bell has been playing lacrosse since kindergarten and always had a goal to continue lacrosse in college. This goal is finally becoming a reality for Bell since he signed with West Point United States Military Academy. “It was a major goal of mine to play in college and I’m really excited that I’ll be signing soon,” Bell said.
Senior Julia Evens plays lacrosse for BSM and has also always wanted to play at the collegiate level. Finding the opportunity at Marquette University, Julia looked forward to participating in the National Letter of Intent Day. “I’m most looking forward to meeting all the new players and building relationships with the coaches and just enjoying the college lifestyle,” Evens said.
