50 Questions with Ms. Dahlstrom
Who is your favorite student? I don’t have a favorite student.
What is your least favorite grade? No comment.
Where did you work before BSM? Robbinsdale Cooper, where I was a biology and anatomy teacher. I then got my principals license and I was an administrator for the summer school program.
Where do you live now? Orono.
How is Benilde different from anywhere you’ve worked? Benilde- St. Margaret’s is based on a close community where the staff actually knows the student and counseling. The counseling department is far above any school that I have ever seen. The kids actually get help ninth through twelfth grade, and get into the correct college versus just pushing them into a college that’s not the right fit for them.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Oh my gosh, can I live in Minnesota but change the weather?
What’s your favorite food? I love all kinds of fruit: strawberries, pineapple, watermelon, grapes, peaches and raspberries.
What’s your dream job? I’ve always dreamed of working with kids, I was pre med until my senior year of college and I was a pediatrician. So I knew that I always wanted to be with kids, but I didn’t want to be on call every other weekend because I knew I wanted to serve a rural community. So that is why I switched to education so I can split time with the kids at school with my kids at home.
Cats or dogs? Oh that’s a tough one for me. I grew up on a farm and all of our animals lived outside and I actually hung out in the bar with the cats a lot. They were so cute and we always had a dog too. Now we have a dog so I guess when I was little I loved cats and now we have a dog. So now I am more of a dog person.
What’s your favorite pair of shoes? Tennis shoes, specifically Nike.
What’s your favorite clothing brand? I don’t know if I have one. Under Armour.
Where did you go to high school? I went to Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.
Where did you go to college/ major? I went to multiple colleges actually. So I went to Northland Community and Technical College where I got my Associate of Arts degree. Then I went to University of Minnesota Duluth where I got my Bachelors of Science degree Biology, minor in Chemistry and minor in coaching. I got my master’s degree at the University of Minnesota for teaching life science. Then I went to St. Mary’s and got my K12 principals license
Worst part about being a principal? Knowing the hardships that students are going through and not being able to do anything about it
What kind of car do you drive? GMC Denali
How many kids do you have, what ages, names? I have three girls. Maya just turned 14 last weekend, she’s in 8th grade. Sydney is 11, she’s in 5th grade and Payton is eight she’s in the 3rd grade.
What color are your eyes? Hazel
Favorite BSM sport? Oh, come on now. Well I obviously have a passion for softball. But, the fact that kids are so involved is another thing that makes this place really, really special. But, softball has a special place in my heart.
Favorite pro sports team? I probably watch the Vikings the most. Yeah, I don’t really follow a ton of sports teams.
Favorite color? Teal.
What show are you binge watching? Ozark.
Favorite TV show? Friends, it’s a classic.
Favorite music genre? Country.
What is your biggest fear? I don’t have arachnophobia or anything like I’m not scared of spiders or snakes. I used to be scared of heights but not really anymore. I don’t really know.

Favorite vacation? Puerto Vallarta, that was really fun.
Underrated artist? Walker Hayes.
A Benilde class you wish you could take? I really want to be fluent in Spanish.
Favorite candy? 100 Grand.
Biggest pet peeve? When people pick their nose in public.

Favorite decade? Definitely the 90’s.
Weirdest food combination? Bananas with cheese on it.

What makes you sad? It makes me sad when students are sad.
