BSM has recently been introduced to Ms. Megan Kern’s new student teacher, Mr. Peter Kennedy.  Kennedy got his undergraduate degree at the University of Dallas in business but after working for a few years, he went back to school at the University of Saint Thomas and worked on a masters’ in education.

Kennedy was influenced to pursue a field in education when he worked at a school in Spain; that’s when he realized he really enjoyed teaching. Kennedy loves history and wants to share that passion with young people.

I plan to finish working on my license and master’s degree, to stay involved, and broadening my education in any way I can until the right opportunity comes up

For his masters’ in education, Kennedy is still required to stay in touch with Saint Thomas. Once a month he is at Saint Thomas for a seminar and he also has to work on a teacher portfolio. Kennedy’s first impression of BSM was that the students were very respectful and focused. “Everyone has been so nice since I’ve started, and I’ve enjoyed being included in the BSM faculty,” Kennedy said.

In the future, Kennedy hopes to work at a Catholic school and be able to teach history with a Catholic perspective. “I plan to finish working on my license and master’s degree, to stay involved, and broadening my education in any way I can until the right opportunity comes up,” Kennedy said.

When not working, Kennedy enjoys spending time with his family in Watertown Minnesota and playing with his two young daughters. He also enjoys music and traveling to historical places.
