The BSM boys’ basketball team had a strong end to their regular season with an away win against Richfield and a home win against Bloomington Kennedy. Sophomore Derek Drees led the way for the Red Knights with a 21 point showing in the Richfield game and 12 points in the game against Bloomington Kennedy. From last season, Drees made the jump from B-squad to the varsity team and has proven himself as a valuable asset averaging almost ten points per game throughout the regular season. “Derek’s a really fun kid to play with. He really helps our team on the offensive end because he’s the second leading scorer as a sophomore, which is really impressive,” senior captain Jake Cassens said. For his impressive scoring skills, Drees has rightly been named the Athlete of the Week for February 16th-22nd.
