Although the support groups at BSM haven’t changed, the pass system that makes students eligible to attend these groups has. Students now get passes to group through an email they receive two days in advance. This allows group members more time to ask for their teacher’s permission and prevents them from losing or forgetting their passes. “It just saves the teachers a ton of time,” attendance supervisor Mrs. Kathy Jacobson said.
The old passes, hand-written by Dr. Jeff Steffenson or Mrs. Amanda Anderson, were sent to the members in homeroom. This new way provides a more efficient system than the old hand-written method. “I like that we get the passes emailed to us because this way, we are guaranteed to receive them two days in advance whereas last year, we didn’t always get them on time,” junior Zoe Cave said.
