After a heartbreaking 20-14 loss to Irondale for Homecoming, the Red Knights suffered a similar fate against conference rival Chisago Lakes during Senior Night, losing 27-20 on October 5.
The Red Knights struck early when junior quarterback Keaton Studsrud found junior Sam Lynch for a 71 yard touchdown. Studsrud found senior Mikey Koller for another touchdown later in the half, and the Red Knights lead 13-0 going into halftime.
Chisago Lakes came out strong in the second half as senior running back Eric Brown went 70 yards on the first play giving the Wildcats momentum. Two more Wildcat touchdowns were finally countered with Studsrud’s third touchdown pass of the game to junior tight end Jack Sims.
The Wildcats scored with under two minutes to play and the Red Knights were unable to muster a final comeback leaving the final score at 27-20.
Junior wide receiver Sam Lynch had his second straight 100 yard receiving game. The Wildcats found success in Brown, who ran for 160 yards and two touchdowns, providing the spark for a team that had zero passing yards all game.
The Red Knights drop to 2-4 on the season and will travel on the road for a non-conference matchup against the Tartan Titans on October 12.
