A season that started with high hopes for success ended Tuesday night when the boys’ lacrosse team lost to Edina 9-5 in the section semifinals. The Red Knights were the top seed in section 5 and had their sights set on a third straight State Championship despite several season-ending injuries to star players. BSM got goals from juniors Michael Nanne and Chris Hickock and sophomore Josh Werkmeister in the first half, trailing by just one going into the break. The Hornets broke the game open in the third, netting three unanswered goals to put them up by four going into the final quarter. Hickock and junior Jack Tucker scored goals for the Red Knights in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as Edina had two themselves. The boys’ lacrosse team loses two All-Americans and three All-State players to graduation this year.
