Although it was Valentines Day, the boy’s basketball team wasn’t feeling so loving as they handled Columbia Heights by the score of 69-46. The Red Knights came out slow, facing a box and one defense, as the Hylanders attempted to slow down senior guard Isaiah Zierden. The Hylanders attempt to control the Red Knight offense rendered useless as senior forward Sanjay Lumpkin took over in the second half, scoring 21 points, forcing the Hylanders to switch into a man-to-man defense. This gave Zierden the space to heat up and finish the game with 18 points. Senior guards Will Dunn and Isaiah Gray also gave the Hylander defense trouble, scoring 14 and 10 points, respectively. As the The Red Knights make their second round through the conference, they face the Irondale Knights in their next match up on Friday, Feb. 17.
Double threat of Lumpkin and Zierden too much for Hylanders
