Every year, Benilde-St. Margaret’s nominates two seniors “who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in a fine arts activity” for the Minnesota State High School League Triple “A” Award. This year, Drew Breyer and Caroline Hendrickson were nominated for their outstanding participation in all three areas.
“It’s just a wonderful opportunity to be so blessed with great extra-curricular activities here at BSM,” said Breyer, who has participated in football, hockey, and track.
Caroline Hendrickson has a similarly impressive resume, including volleyball, Link Crew, band, softball, and trips to the state speech competition– now a captain of the team. “It’s an honor to be nominated. There are so many qualified people here––it’s just an honor to represent the school,” Hendrickson said.
Chosen by member schools of the MSHSL, representatives of the League’s administrative regions, and a special committee of educators, business leaders, and members from the fine arts and athletic communities, the Triple “A” nominees will attend a banquet held in March.
According to MSHSL, the top two award finishers from each region will be invited to the banquet, where league officials will announce the four actual award winners. Award recipients—a girl and a boy from both a Class A and a Class AA school—will receive a four-year $1,000 scholarship.
