The Pillsbury House Theatre, a theater known for its controversial dramas, is putting on its production of David Harrower’s Blackbird at the Guthrie. Performed in the intimate Dowling Studio, Blackbird offers its audience a haunting portrayal of a relationship between a man and women twisted by the horrors of sexual abuse. Revolving around the story of two characters, Ray and Una, the play sends a powerful message by focusing on the lives of these two people fifteen years after their lives were changed forever. With brilliant acting and a challenging and mature storyline, Blackbird superbly exposes a darker side of humanity.
