Boys basketball looks to improve
The BSM boys basketball team is underway and have won two of their first three games beating Bloomington Kennedy 63-38 and Orono 77-58. Their season continues until March 11, when they play Buffalo.
With everything that has been going on this year all athletes are required to wear masks. This in some cases can make it harder to breath and other times it can take away some of your vision when looking down. “Playing with a mask can be tough, but we put in the work this summer to be prepared for that,” senior Noah Allen said.
The boys want to build from their wins against both Orono and Bloomington Kennedy. They are also looking to improve from their team last season and in their loss against Eden Prairie on January 21. Every team has their bumps and bruises throughout their season and that is what helps them in the long run. “I think our team is much different than last year and we have a great coach in Damian and he brought a group of really good assistants with him. We have started out 2-1 which is a good start but we got a lot of work to do,” junior Ben James said.
Every team tends to set specific goals for themselves to achieve during their season. The BSM boys basketball team did exactly that setting some quality and challenging goals. “Our team goals for this season is to win the section final game and to win 12 or more out of our 18 games,” Allen said.
Before the regular season comes to end the boys want to win a couple key games that will help them in both in their conference and preparing for sections. Winning these games will help improve their team’s chemistry and confidence. “We want to win against St. Louis Park and Holy Angels especially, but really all of our conference games are huge games this year,” James said
