The new maintenance supervisor, Brian Aubrey, has been a part of the BSM community for only a short two months. He is in charge of taking care of daily tasks that entail a long range of responsibilities as well as supervising other maintenance positions.

Aubrey is originally from Roseville, Minnesota and had known about BSM many years before taking the maintenance job here. Mr. Dean Laird, the director of facilities, reached out to him once the job opened up and asked for him to be a part of the community. Aubrey agreed and has been enjoying his time here, but some challenges have become prevalent along the way. “The hardest part is definitely the snow and figuring out where to put it all,” Aubrey said.

Aubrey is flexible with any help needed around campus involving maintenance, but he also has specific jobs such as keeping the fields intact and taking care of any problems that arise. “I’m in charge of day-to-day activities such as taking care of the field and keeping things clean. I also have a staff that helps me out every day,” Aubrey said.

Minnesota has had a difficult year involving snowfall that has caused BSM to call many days off of school. Aubrey had to work hard to clear the snow quickly and efficiently around the campus so that the school could stay in session during 2019’s record-breaking winter season. “I’ve only been here for two months, so I’ve been moving the snow myself along with some other workers in my department, but the snow can only pile so high and there’s only so much room with all the trees and landscape around,” Aubrey said.

Before Aubrey began working at BSM, he owned his own landscaping, construction, and handyman business. He is excited to continue working around this high school community and has enjoyed his job so far. Aubrey feels especially confident when helping to fix daily issues that happen around the school due to his prior job. “Part of my job is fixing things and doing small projects. All the things that I’ve done before with construction and my handyman business have helped me when working here and fixing problems,” Aubrey said.
