BSM Girls’ Volleyball beat Minneapolis Southwest in 5 games on Thursday, October 29, in the Section 6AAA Quarterfinals to advance to the Semifinals next week.  The Red Knights were seeded 4th and the Southwest Lakers were the 5th seed.  The girls’ lost the first two games against Southwest, but won the last three to win it all.  “The first couple games were kind of rough and the scores were very close, but after the 3rd game we picked it up,” senior captain Paige Mazal said.

Both teams had great players and some really nice plays, but in the end BSM was victorious. It was a great feat for the Red Knight ladies who haven’t made it this far in sections in many years.  “It’s amazing, we have never made it this far in sections in a very long time. As a senior, it’s an awesome way to finish off the season. All our hard work as a team has really paid off,” Mazal said.

Not only were the girls extremely excited to win, but so was the head coach, Phong Luong, and the managers.  “Being injured and not being able to play this season has been difficult, but watching the girls beat Southwest was awesome.  I’ve seen a huge improvement in the team, especially in the younger players.  It was also very cool to see the seniors play as they know any one of these games could be their last game as a Red Knight,” former player and senior manager Elle Ryan said.

The Red Knights will play in the Section 6AAA Semifinals against the Washburn Millers on Wednesday, November 4, at Saint Louis Park High School for a spot in the Section 6AAA Final.
