Starbucks offers a variety of drinks, but you have to look hard to find the healthiest ones.

Although daily Starbucks runs add up, they can be a difficult trip to avoid. With summer right around the corner and “beach bodies” in mind, healthier options are in the front of everyone’s minds. Luckily, there are some tasty refreshments that serves as better options than a “Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino,” which inevitably leaves feelings of guilt and shame. This list of iced teas, refresher beverages, and bottled drinks offer a variety of different options to accommodate a healthier lifestyle.

Teas

Tea sometimes gets shoved to the end of the line when it comes to daily drinks; but, as underrated as it has become, there are countless health benefits to it. Starbucks serves many different types of teas that contain zero calories. A cold drink for summer days by the pool, Shaken Tazo® Iced Passion® Tea (unsweetened), is the perfect zero calorie/zero fat drink for those with a sweet tooth. For a bolder tasting tea, order the black breakfast tea, Awake™ Brewed Tea, sure to provide a boost of morning energy. For relaxing on a warm summer day, the Calm™ Brewed Tea is the perfect blend of chamomile, rose petals, and soothing herbs. If looking for a refreshing burst of hydration, the Refresh™ Brewed Tea is great for a quick Starbucks run during busy summer days. The famous Brewed Tazo® Tea is a hot refreshment which soothes the throat if that’s desired.

Frappucinos

For those who can’t seem to stray away from the texture and taste of a cold Frappuccino, Starbucks offers a few drinks under 200 calories, to counter the many over 600 calories. Caramel lovers can have a hard time finding a low calorie drink at Starbucks, but the Caramel Frappuccino® Light Blended Coffee is only 100 calories of sweet goodness. For those who enjoy caffeinated Frappuccinos, the Coffee Frappuccino® Blended Coffee drink is only 160 calories. Whether admitted or not, everyone has a little bit of a sweet tooth, and Starbucks offers solutions to these sweet cravings under 200 calories. This includes their Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino® Light Blended Beverage, which is a delicious mix of coffee and vanilla flavors blended with milk and ice, and containing only 180 calories.

Lattes

Not only a rich, espresso filled refreshment, the Nonfat Iced Vanilla Latte is figure friendly as well, containing a mere 120 calories. The name speaks for itself––the Iced Skinny Latte allows for refreshment, while tingling the taste buds at only 70 calories. Another similar latte, the Iced Caffé Latte, is a full-bodied espresso on the rocks mixed in with milk at 130 calories. With a healthy blend of nonfat milk and sugar-free cinnamon dolce syrup, the Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte is a smart replacement of other cinnamon-flavored drinks while creating the same delicious taste.

Smoothies

Being a considerably popular summer refreshment, smoothies satisfy a sweet tooth while having nutritional value. Starbucks has three smoothies on their summer menu: Orange Mango, Chocolate, and Strawberry. Although difficult to make a smoothie with nutritional value while maintaining low calories, the Orange Mango is the lowest calorie smoothie. Consisting of natural orange mango juice, one banana, milk, whey protein, and fiber powder, the Orange Mango Smoothie is guaranteed to keep the consumer full and satisfied. The Strawberry Smoothie consists of 300 calories and contains natural strawberry puree, one banana, milk, whey protein, and fiber powder. For those who can’t seem to stay away from the chocolate taste, the Chocolate Smoothie contains 300 calories and, nevertheless, is an effective replacement for a chocolate shake.

The popular saying “everything in moderation” rings especially true when taking a trip to Starbucks. Decadent drinks can still be enjoyed in a smaller size, or with a quick swap to nonfat milk, or unsweetened––meaning that one doesn’t have to sacrifice flavor for health.
