Pannek is a captain of both the soccer and hockey teams.

A two sport varsity athlete who has been on a varsity team since freshman year, Kelly Pannek has been dominating on the soccer field since her freshman year. On Sunday, Pannek was awarded the title of Ms. Soccer, as a culmination of her efforts. “I was really shocked when I found out I won [because] there were so many deserving players that were up for it,” Pannek said.

Pannek has been with the team during some of the Red Knight’s most successful moments, with a state appearance every year and a state championship last year. “Winning Ms Soccer is bigger than just me, it is about our team, coaches and BSM soccer community, and that is why it is such an honor to receive the award,” Pannek said.

In her senior season alone, she accumulated a total of 44 points: 25 of which were goals and 19 that were assists, and on September 23rd, Pannek achieved her 100th point with the BSM soccer program. “She has led our team to achieve a lot of victories, and her passion for the sport makes everyone else [on the team] want to play with the same intensity,” junior midfielder Mimi Burns said.

This is second year Pannek has been All State for soccer, after scoring twice in the championship game last year. “I have had the best teammates, who without I wouldn’t have any success, the best coaches, who are patient with me and have taught me so much about soccer and being a good person, and my family who has supported me no matter what,” Pannek said.

Despite a love for soccer, Pannek has committed to play hockey for the University of Minnesota next year and plans on continuing her legacy of athletic excellence.
